• Southeast Missouri State volleyball player Tara Beilsmith (St. Joseph’s Academy) was named Ohio Valley Conference defensive player of the week after finishing the weekend with 90 digs, 17 assists and four aces. She was also named to the SEMO Invitational all-tournament team.
• The SIUE women’s soccer team swept the Ohio Valley Conference player of the week honors with Lily Schnieders as top offensive player, JJ Schoch as the league’s top goalkeeper and Matea Diekema as top defender.
• McKendree men’s swimming and diving squad won all 10 events at the St. Louis Showcase in Edwardsville. Leading the way for the Bearcats were Filipe Pinheiro, who won the 50 breaststroke, the 200 IM and was part of one winning relay, and Xander Skinner, who took first in the 50 and 100 freestyle and was part of three winning relays.
The McKendree women won nine of the 10 events. They were led by Karley Sonnenberg, who won the 50 freestyle and was part of three winning relays, Abby Rumpp, who won the 50 backstroke and three relays, and Sarah Gromley, who won the 200 IM and was part of one relay.
• Missouri Baptist’s volleyball team swept the American Midwest Conference honors for the week with Giovanna Tapigliani, Manuela Vargas and Ariana Macies voted as the league’s attacker, setter and defender of the week, respectively. The Spartans, who won the NAIA title last season, are 10-2 and ranked No. 1 nationally.
