Delaney Parker and the Westfield State women’s soccer are dancing.

The first-year forward from Orange scored the lone goal of the contest, helping the top-seeded Owls earn a 1-0 win over No. 2 Worcester State in the championship game of the MASCAC women’s soccer tournament Sunday at Alumni Field in Westfield.

Westfield, which improved to 15-4-1 on the season with the win, earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Owls will learn their destination and opponent on Monday at 1 p.m.

Parker, the nation’s leading scorer in NCAA Division III with 31 goals this season, tallied when senior Jenn Rennich lobbed a ball toward the penalty area. Parker ran on to it, beating the defender to the ball and firing a shot from the right side to the far post with 22 minutes left in the first half.

“It was just like a blur when it happened. I don’t really know how it went in, but when it did, pure bliss,” said Parker, who earned Tournament MVP honors.
