Columbia Announces 2021 Women’s Soccer Schedule

NEW YORK — The Columbia women’s soccer program announced its 2021 schedule on Thursday. The Lions return to the pitch for the first time since 2019 when they travel to Queens on August 27 to battle St. John’s. The home opener comes less than a week later on Thursday, September 2, against Hofstra with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

“We are thrilled to finally be releasing our schedule for the fall season,” said head coach Tracey Bartholomew, who enters her eighth season with the Lions. “I believe we have a schedule that will challenge us as we navigate our return to play, and provides us with many chances to bring out the best in who we can be. We will face top teams from different leagues that have been in the NCAA tournament, along with great coaches that have built strong programs year in and year out.  These games will help prepare us for the rigors of our Ivy League games – in 2019, Ivy League women’s soccer finished as the fifth-best conference in the country. I know every team will be ready to battle and showcase the level of play in the League.

“I am probably more excited to be back around the team and be inspired by them daily. I know our student-athletes have been preparing for the opportunity to be back together on the field chasing the championship once again. I cannot wait to see them all in Columbia Blue, together!”

Columbia’s 15-game schedule includes eight home dates at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium – four non-conference and four Ivy League games. The non-conference home slate welcomes Hofstra (Sept. 2) and Bucknell (Sept. 5) to Morningside Heights. Following back-to-back road games at La Salle (Sept. 8) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Sept. 12), Columbia closes out the non-conference portion at home against Seton Hall (Sept. 17) and Quinnipiac (Sept. 19).

Ivy League play begins Saturday, Sept. 25 in upstate New York against Cornell. The following two weeks bring Columbia back to New York City to take on Brown (Oct. 2) and Penn (Oct. 9). After back-to-back Saturdays on the road, the Lions close out the regular season at home, taking on Yale (Oct. 30) and Harvard (Nov. 6).
