High School Girls Soccer Player of the Week

Cardinal Spellman High’s Emma Pero has been voted the High School Girls Soccer Player of the Week.

The sophomore, who received almost 3,400 votes, earned the honor after playing a role in all four of the Cardinals goals in a 4-0 tournament win over Auburn. She scored three goals and assisted on the other.

And this week’s candidates are…

Amanda Jacques, Jr., West Bridgewater: The Wildcats rallied from behind to defeat Pope Francis, 3-2, in the Div. 4 quarterfinals. Jacques scored the winning goal to send WB to the program’s first state semifinal.

Megan Banzi, Sr., Plymouth North: Banzi scored three goals in the final 15 minutes to put an exclamation point on a 5-0 win over Grafton in the Div. 2 quarterfinals.

Sophie Reale, Jr., Hingham: Reale scored all three of her team’s goals in a 3-0 win over Algonquin in the Div. 1 quarterfinals.

Lauren Dwyer, Sr., Silver Lake: Dwyer netted the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Danvers in the Div. 2 quarterfinals.

Cat Herman, Jr., Cohasset: Herman scored twice to lift Cohasset to a 3-0 win over Hampshire in the Div. 4 quarterfinals.
