Lehigh women’s soccer team announces 7-player recruiting class

Lyght wrapped up a decorated career at Scotch-Plains Fanwood High School. A senior captain, she was named NJ.com third team All-State in 2019, along with NJ.com second team All-Group IV (for the second time). Lyght was named a United Soccer Coaches All-American in 2018 and Regional All-American in 2018 and 2019. She was a three-time Union County Girls Soccer Coaches Association All-Star, and first team Watchung Conference honoree. For three straight years, Lyght received North Section recognition from the NJ Girls Soccer Coaches Association, as her team finished top 20 in the North Section and state in 2018 and 2019. A Watchung Conference Champion in 2019 and 2020, Scotch-Plains won the Union County Championship in 2017 and 2018, and Group 4 North II Sectional Title in 2019. Also in 2019, Scotch-Plains became Group 4 state finalists for the first time in school history. Lyght has experience at the US Women’s Soccer Training Centers. A multi-sport athlete, she played basketball as a freshman and sophomore (when she served as a captain) and competed in track and field those years as well. This June, Lyght was part of a 4X400 relay team that took first place at the Meet of Champions in South Plainfield, New Jersey (posting a personal-best time of 3:43.73). In the classroom, Lyght was a member of the National Honor Society. She was a NJ State Interscholastic Athletic Association student representative and posted a weighted average GPA of 4.69 out of 4.80.

Why Lehigh? “I chose Lehigh because it fit from both an academic and athletic perspective. When I walked on campus, I felt right at home and I knew Lehigh was the place for me. I am so excited to be a part of this program.”

Coach Lambinus on Lyght: “How impressive is a student-athlete who scores a hat trick in the NJ Sectional Finals in the fall and wins the Meet of Champions in the 4×400 while setting a new PR in the spring? Corinne is an unbelievable competitor who not only works to be the best version of herself every day, but is also extremely humble and an incredible teammate. She can play multiple attacking positions for us soccer-wise and we look forward to finding the best spot for her to take advantage of her best qualities.”
