Grizzly Cub girls win Mid-State
Lauren Klem repeated as individual champion, helping the Franklin girls edge Plainfield to claim the Mid-State Conference championship on Saturday. Kathleen Lacy was fifth for the Grizzly Cubs, while Ainsley Botkin was 11th and Abby Demaree was 12th. Franklin’s boys were fourth, led by Jared Stayte (fifth).
Trojan boys second in MIC
Center Grove’s boys placed second behind No. 3 Carmel in the MIC meet. Parker Mimbela led the No. 5 Trojans with a second-place individual finish, followed by Griffin Hennessy (fourth), Kyle Montgomery (10th) and Jarrett Rockwell (11th).
Braves second in Shelbyville
Running their second meet in three days, Indian Creek’s boys and girls turned in solid second-place showings at the Golden Bear Invitational in Shelbyville. For the girls, Samuela Grosso and Paige Iaria were second and third individually, while Phoebe Dowty was fifth and Hannah Seitzinger 11th. Caden Ringer led the boys with a fifth-place finish, followed by Henry Fleetwood (eighth), Carson Ringer (11th) and Jackson Neibert (13th).

Trojans, Royals share tourney title
Center Grove and Roncalli battled to a 1-1 tie at the Trojan Classic on Saturday, with each adding a victory later in the day to share the overall title. Ava Crowe scored for the Class 3A No. 9 Trojans (8-1-5) against the Royals.
Jaden Hippenmeyer scored three goals and Lexi Glover added a pair in Center Grove’s 8-0 win over Columbus East in the afternoon, while Emily Karr, Halle Lane and Kayli Farmer each contributing a goal. Roncalli topped Terre Haute North, 3-0.
Boys soccer
Grizzly Cubs rout Batesville
Griffin Atkison tallied three goals and JD Sever added a pair in Franklin’s 6-0 victory over Batesville on Saturday. Caleb Ingram also scored once for the Grizzly Cubs (9-3-1).
Boys tennis
Center Grove splits pair
No. 14 Center Grove lost to top-ranked Carmel on Saturday but edged No. 16 Homestead, 3-2, behind a three-set win at first doubles by Bennett Strain and Max Williams. Evan Davis earned a point at No. 3 singles for the Trojans, with Conner Smith and Carson Bush winning at second doubles.

Trojans take two of three
Center Grove won two of its three tournament matches at Cathedral on Saturday, rallying to beat Silver Creek in three sets and sweeping New Castle in two but losing to Class 4A No. 1 Penn, 25-14, 25-21.
Franklin College
Women’s tennis earns split
Franklin College lost to unbeaten Ohio Northern but swept Concordia, 9-0, on Saturday. Emma Foley, Sydney Logsdon and Maecee Terhune all won at both singles and doubles for the Grizzlies (3-4).
Volleyball drops a pair
On the final day of its home invitational, Franklin College suffered a pair of setbacks, losing to Baldwin Wallace in four sets and Bethany in five. Miranda Wilson totaled 38 kills and Allison Thompson 47 assists on the day for the Grizzlies (8-8).
Women’s soccer falls short
Playing its final nonconference match of the fall, Franklin College suffered a 2-0 road loss to Wilmington (Ohio). Riley Rice made five saves in defeat for the Grizzlies (1-6).
