21 Jul NMI women’s soccer team to attend Guam training camp | Sports
MEMBERS of the CNMI’s Women’s National Soccer Team left on Monday, July 19, for a four-day training camp at the Guam Football Association National Training Center in Dededo.
The players are Dianne Pablo, Gabrielle Race, Britany Wally, Guinevere Borja, Toermy Diaz, Katrina Costales, Khristelle Itaas, Julianne Hall, Jannah Casarino, Stephanie Flores, Christina Atalig, Allyssya Angeles, Tyana Kileleman-Hix, Aubrey Castro, Audrey Castro, Summer Manahane, Deseha Mendiola, Rizza Relucio, Pia Ngewakl, Tamia Kileleman-Hix, Mia Abuan and Andrei Chavez.
With them are head coach Luam Koo, assistant coaches Mae It and Lalaine Pagarao as well as team manager Yu Hung “Emma” Lee.
They will undergo training on Guam to prepare for international events as well as this year’s Marianas Cup.
On Monday, the CNMI team played their first training match against the Women’s Club Team. The game was played in three sets with 30-minute intervals.
On Tuesday, the CNMI team underwent a training session from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Their second training match started at 7:30 p.m. against Guam Masakada in another three-set game.
On Wednesday, the team underwent a training session from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., but didn’t play a training match.
On their final day, Thursday, the CNMI team will train from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and play against the Women’s Club Team in the evening. This time, the game will have three sets of 20-minute intervals.
The CNMI team returns to Saipan on Friday.
Although the team did not participate in any off-island training for over a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they, along with the rest of the local soccer players, conducted training sessions at the NMI Soccer Training Center and played in local competitions such as the Dove Women’s Spring League 2021 and the Men’s M-League Spring 2021.
