No. 4 Bucknell Crowned 2021 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Champions (11.7.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 4 Bucknell Bison were crowned the 2021 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Champions with a 1-0 win over top-seeded Boston University on Sunday afternoon in Boston, Mass.

The win marks the Bison’s fifth Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship title and first since 2017.


Bucknell freshman midfielder Teresa Deda was awarded Tournament MVP honors. Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Hall, senior defender Claire Mensi and junior midfielder Petie Nassetta joined Deda on the all-tournament team.


Boston University junior goalkeeper Gretchen Bennett, junior forward Marli Rajacich and junior midfielder Julianna Stureman were all named to the all-tournament squad.


Army West Point senior forward Trinity Garay and junior defender Emma Richey, and Navy freshman defender Tatum Kelly and junior defender Sadie McCaleb were all placed on the all-tournament team as well.


The Bison earned the Patriot League automatic qualifying bid to the 2021 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. They will learn their first-round opponent when the NCAA Selection Show takes place on Monday, Nov. 8 at 4:30 p.m. ET. First-Round action begins Friday, Nov. 12 and ends Sunday, Nov. 14

BOSTON – Bucknell earned the 2020-21 Patriot League Spring Women’s Soccer Championship title with a 1-0 win over Boston University on Sunday afternoon.

* The game was scoreless through the first half as Bucknell held Boston U to four shots through 45 minutes.

* Bucknell’s game-winning goal came in the 75th minute when the ball crossed the goal line off a Boston University defender.

* Bucknell sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Hall recorded four saves on 12 shots faced.

* BU freshman goalkeeper Celia Braun made eight saves on 16 shots faced for the Terriers.
