Premier League news live updates and soccer latest: Barcelona latest as they eye Xavi plus more from Women’s Euros draw

Me, my dog, and my grandma know that Xavi is the frontrunner for the Barcelona job. However, the Al Sadd manager is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s match against Al Ahli in the Qatar Stars League: “I am currently focused on my work with Al Sadd, and I cannot talk about anything else.”

Al Sadd are currently undefeated and top the table. Why not turn down Barca for the chance to create Qatar’s own invincibles?

Good news for the Blues. Pulisic, who has been out since the international break in early September, is back in training. It’s excellent timing too, considering the injuries to Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and N’Golo Kante were also all involved.

Some good news for Brentford ahead of their game against Burnley.

According to Thomas Frank, there is a “good chance” that both Bryan Mbeumo and Ethan Pinnock, who were both substituted off injured against Leicester last weekend, will be available.

There’s also an update from The Athletic’s Jay Harris on the goalkeeper situation after David Raya’s serious knee injury.

Well, wasn’t that draw enjoyable!

But the Premier League has been marching relentlessly on, and there have been several press conferences today ahead of the weekend’s matches. Here’s a quick injury round-up.

Their group might not be the most difficult in the competition, but the quarter-final could be.

England will play a team from Group B should they qualify for the knockouts – which will mean facing a survivor from the group of death. Germany? Spain? Pick your poison.

Just a reminder, it will be Austria as the tournament opener, followed by the likely group decider against Norway, before the group stages come to a close against neighbours Northern Ireland.

The fourth team in Group B, Finland, went undefeated throughout qualifying. Joining Germany, Spain, and Denmark, they’ll have a tough task if they’re to keep their unbeaten record.

Group C: Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia

Group D: France, Italy, Belgium, Iceland

Defcon 3, Defcon 3. That match in Southampton on the 15th July is going to be fun.

England won 4-0 against them this Saturday.

And just like that, we’re almost done!

Group D: France, Italy, Belgium

Germany, Spain, Denmark. Oof.

Denmark, ranked seventh in the world, reached the final of the last tournament.

Austria will join England and Norway in Group A. Sarina Wiegman won’t be displeased with that.

And that’ll be the opening game of the tournament at Old Trafford!

A dress rehearsal will take place at the Stadium of Light later this year as part of World Cup qualifying.
