24 Aug Regional League Round-Up: Eight on target for Dorking
The London & South East was the second women’s regional league to kick off its new season, Dorking Wanderers doing so with eight players on the scoresheet.
EASTERN – Second wins for Wymondham and Wroxham
Premier – Wymondham Town and Wroxham each recorded back-to-back wins, the former having six different scorers in their 7-0 sinking of Colney Heath, the latter edging hosts Haringey Borough 3-2 with Amber Cantwell’s penalty. Bowers & Pitsea drew 1-1 with Kings Lynn Town, Royston Town ran out 7-2 winners at AFC Dunstable and St Ives Town’s Angel Lyden got the only goal of the game at Luton Town,
1 North – Wootton Blue Cross Lionesses’ Rebecca Vass bagged a brace in the 3-2 victory over Biggleswade United, Cambridge City DS cane away from Haverhill Rovers with six unanswered goals.
1 South – Herts Vipers beat East Bergholt United 3-2 with a Georgina Royall double in the last half-hour, making it two wins from two. Clear wins elsewhere saw AFC Sudbury net six against Hutton, Barking put five past Billericay Town DS and Cheshunt’s Frances Gamble hit a hat-trick in the 5-0 defeat of Wodson Park.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Dorking delight in eight different scorers
Premier – Ashford Town (Middlesex) are the league’s first leaders of the new season, after a big 9-1 result over Millwall Lionesses in which Lavana Neufville scored four times. Fulham’s Oana-Elena Negrea got three goals in a 5-1 win at Aylesford, Saltdean United recorded a 4-0 victory at Whyteleafe and Dartford defeated Worthing 2-0.
1 North – Brentford’s Axelle Courlander converted from the spot in a 2-1 success at Sport London E Benfica, Dulwich Hamlet Reserves won 4-1 at Victoire, Sutton United sent hosts Watford DS to a 7-2 defeat and eight Dorking Wanderers players got on the scoresheet in the 10-0 thrashing of Clapham United
1 South – AFC Acorns took the points 3-2 at Welling United, Bexhill United beat hosts Maidstone United 3-1. Herne Bay kicked off with a 4-1 scoreline over Newhaven, Ashford Ladies put six past Parkwood Rangers and Hastings United’s ten goals against Meridian featured a four-goal haul from Molly Hill.
