YAIAA Single Tournament

At the YAIAA single tournament on Thursday, two New Oxford subordinates made a strong start for area players.

Freshman Anya Rosenbach showed why she joined as a top seed by posting a 6-0, 6-0 winning pair in class 3A action. Rosenbach, who has not lost this season, will face Red Lion’s 8th Seed Sophie Lanius in the quarterfinals starting today at 1:00 pm in the southwest.

Rosenbach will be joined by second-year teammate Allison Holic this quarter. Allison Holic also won 2-0 on Thursday. The seventh-seeded Holic is about to defeat the second seed of the Red Lion, Lexi Lakatos.

Gettysburg’s Kim Heinzelman joins the colonial tandem thanks to the winning pair of straight sets. The sixth-seeded warrior will face Central York’s third Rachel Haupt when play resumes today.

Also in District 3A is the Southwestern Salama Comus, which is on the same side as Rosenbach.

In Class 2A, a pair of Delon Catholic Aces backed up the seeds. No. 4 Olivia Roth lost only one match after defeating two opponents on Thursday. Ross will play in the semi-finals with Lexie Sanderson of West York.

Squirette Ella Knox sailed into the quarter in a similar fashion with 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 wins. Next to Knox is Brianna Serruto from the third seed, Kennard-Dale.
