Siena Heights soccer teams pick up victories over Concordia

ANN ARBOR — The Siena Heights men’s soccer team picked up its second win in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this year, coming back from a 1-0 deficit to Concordia-Ann Arbor on Saturday to take a 2-1 victory.

Siena Heights (5-5-2, 2-4-2 WHAC) fell behind in the 16th minute when Concordia’s Bryce Schaner put a shot past Saints keeper Jacob Wojciechowski to make it 1-0, with that score standing over 30 minutes until Gustavo Barros dribbled into the 18-yard box and beat Cardinals goalkeeper Kyri Wixom to the far post with a shot to equalize the game.

Matheus Marrote lifted the Saints ahead for good in the 75th minute when, after Wixom saved a header, Marrote powered the rebound home to score the eventual game-winner.

Wojciechowski picked up the win in goal for the Saints by stopping 10 of 11 shots from Concordia (2-13, 0-8), while Wixom stopped 12 of 14 SHU shots in a losing effort.
