14 Oct #UWCL: Harder bags Blues winner against Juve
Pernille Harder again scored a crucial UEFA Women’s Champions League goal as Chelsea won away to Juventus in front of nearly 17,000 fans.
Wolfsburg 5-0 Servette
Juventus 1-2 Chelsea
Paris Saint-Germain 5-0 Kharkiv
Real Madrid 5-0 Breidablik
Watched by a crowd of 16,871 – the biggest-ever in the UWCL before the quarter-finals – Erin Cuthbert carved her way through the Juve defence to give Chelsea the lead.
But it took little time for the hosts to equalise, as Barbara Bonansea volleyed home clinically from a Lisa Boattin cross.
The Blues had the better of the second half and when Sam Kerr’s effort was charged down, Harder was on hand to restore the lead.
Chelsea next play Swiss side Servette away on 9 November.
Wolfsburg lead the group on goal-difference after putting five past Servette. Svenja Huth’s opener was followed by a second Tabea Wassmuth brace in two ties, before Dominique Janssen blasted home the fourth and substitute Joëlle Smits completed the scoring.
Both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid enjoyed 5-0 victories in Group B, Jordyn Huitema hitting an 18-minute first-half hat-trick for PSG against Ukraine’s Kharkiv, Caroline Møller also on target three times before the break for Los Blancos against Iceland’s Breidablik.
