Women’s college soccer: Nedelcoff named MIAC Rookie of the Year | Sports

Jaelyn Nedelcoff, a 2021 Oregon High School graduate, was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year

Nedelcoff, a freshman midfielder at Augsburg University, was one of five Auggies to receive all-conference accolades.

Nedelcoff made an immediate impact for Augsburg, starting all 16 games as a midfielder. She scored five goals and had two assists. She tied for the second-most goals on the team and was third in assists.

Nedelcoff scored a goal in Augsburg’s 2-1 win over NCAA Division III national champion participant Wisconsin-Superior Sept. 10. She scored the game-winning goal in Augsburg’s 2-1 victory over Scholastica on Oct. 6. Nedelcoff averaged 86.5 minutes per game and played 11 full games.

Nedelcoff is the second Auggie to earn the MIAC’s rookie honor for women’s soccer, since the award was established in 2015. Ashley St. Aubin earned the honor in 2016. Nedelcoff’s honor is the seventh individual conference postseason award for an Augsburg women’s soccer player in program history.

Nedelcoff was a standout player for Oregon, leading the Panthers to the state tournament in the spring of 2021 and was a member of the Oregon girls basketball team that made a run to the WIAA Division 2 state tournament in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the state tournament. Nedelcoff also played club soccer for the Madison 56ers.
