Women’s Regional Leagues Round-Up: Merseyrail take top spot from Tranmere

One change at the top of the eight Women’s Regional Leagues saw Merseyrail takeover from Tranmere Rovers.

EASTERN – Bedford go second

Premier – Natasha Fensome scored all Bedford’s goals in a 3-1 victory at AFC Dunstable, which lifted them two within one point of leaders Wymondham Town. Bowers & Pitsea edged Wroxham 3-2, Kings Lynn Town drew 2-2 with Luton Town.

1 North – Haverhill Rovers clinched their first win, 4-0 at third-placed Wootton Blue Cross Lionesses.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Hamlet hold leaders

Premier – Dulwich Hamlet were the first to take points of Ashford Town (Middx) in a 1-1 draw, Fulham and New London Lionesses finished goalless, Worthing won 4-1 at Saltdean United, Millwall Lionesses took the points 2-1 at Denham United.

1 North – Dorking Wanderers went top with a 2-1 defeat of Brentford, as Dulwich Hamlet Reserves’ perfect start was ended in a 2-1 home reverse to Sport London E Benfica.

1 South – Hastings United held the leadership with a narrow 1-0 south coast derby victory over Bexhill United, while AFC Acorns went second having won 5-1 at Newhaven.

NORTH EAST – Six in a row for York RI

Premier – York City extended their lead by beating Sunderland West End 3-0, Wakefield Trinity went second with hat-tricks from Emily Heckler and Neve Renwick in a 6-3 result at Wallsend BC. Hartlepool United got off the mark with a good 2-1 result against Redcar Town, South Shields did likewise 3-2 away at Farsley Celtic FC.

1 North – Blyth Town had a walkover against Guisborough Town, Bishop Auckland kept the pressure up be beating Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves 4-1, as did West Allotment Celtic with a 3-2 win over Wallsend BC Reserves. Washington hit Prudhoe Town for six as Hannah Dixon scored three times, Boro Rangers drew 2-2 with Chester le Street United.

1 South – York Railway Institute made it six straight wins with a 3-2 victory at Wakefield Trinity U-23s, Altofts beat Millmoor 5-1, Hull United ran out 7-12 victors at Barnsley FC Ladies, Bradford Park Avenue won 5-2 against Hepworth United.

NORTH WEST – Merseyrail topple Tranmere

Premier – Merseyrail replaced Tranmere in pole position with a 4-0 win away to Rovers, Charlotte Cloy, Vicky Yee and a Sophie Petty double doing the damage. Crewe Alexandra are up to third after sending Mossley Hill Athletic to a 5-1 defeat.

1 North – Sir Tom Finney banked their first points with a 3-0 defeat of Morecambe Reserves, Workington Reds’ 8-1 win over Carlisle United featured Jessica Reid’s first-half hat-trick.

1 South – Warrington Wolves’ 4-1 scoreline against Altrincham was their fifth win in a row, Chester kept up their challenge with a 2-1 success at Mersey Valley, also Northwich Vixens after a 3-0 defeat of Alder. West Kirby got going with a 5-2 result over Runcorn Linnets, Curzon Ashton came away from Hindley with a 4-2 win.

SOUTHERN – Cherries extend winning start

Division 1 – AFC Bournemouth DS have won all five league games after edging hosts Eversley & California 3-2, Lucy Cooper contributing a first-half brace. Woking are fourth following a 5-2 victory at Abbey Rangers.

SOUTH WEST – Pilgrims and Robins go top

1 East – Swindon Town DS are new leaders after a 6-3 victory against Frome Town in which Amelia Dudding netted four times. Paulton Rovers and Keynsham Town Reserves shared the points in a 2-2 tie.

1 North – Bristol Rovers opened up a three-point lead with the 5-1 defeat of Downend Flyers, Bristol Ladies Union beat second-placed Frampton Rangers 2-0. Almondsbury were 7-1 winners over Oldland Abbotonians, Weston Super Mare and Weston Mendip each banked a second point of the campaign after sharing six goals.

1 West – Plymouth Argyle U-23s replaced Liskeard Athletic at the summit after sinking them 5-0, Helston Athletic won 3-2 at Saltash United.

WEST MIDLANDS – Shifnal Town win top two clash

Premier – Stourbridge stayed top on goal-difference after a 4-1 win at Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield Town rose to second after hitting Worcester City for six, Redditch United won 4-0 at City of Stoke.

1 North – Shifnal Town lead after winning the top of the table derby clash at AFC Telford United by the odd goal in five. Walsall’s Maja Szymkowiak bagged a crucial brace to seal their first points in a 3-2 win at Wyrley.

1 South – Leamington Lions won 2-0 at Droitwich Spa, Knowle are second after a 2-0 defeat of Kingfisher, while Westfields are up and running following a creditable goalless draw at Cookley Sports.
