Scouting St. John’s

St. John’s enters Sunday’s match in a tie for fourth place in the BIG EAST. The Red Storm face off with Creighton and Villanova in the final two matches of the regular season.

The Red Storm have one of the most dynamic offensive players in the BIG EAST, if not the NCAA, in Zsani Kajan (12 goals & 4 assists). She leads the conference with 28 points, Kajan has three goals and two assists (eight points) in BIG EAST matches.

In net the Red Storm have called upon Naya Lipkens in all but 27 minutes this season. She has made 64 saves and allowed 15 goals in 15 matches. Lipkens’ goals against average (GAA) is 0.98.

Scouting Creighton

Creighton was officially eliminated from the BIG EAST Tournament following the results on Thursday.

After getting off to a 6-1-1 start in non-conference play, injuries have beset the Bluejay program. Eight Bluejays have been sidelined for the 2021 season, while at least three others are questionable for the meeting with the Red Storm.

Offensively sophomore Abigail Santana guides the Bluejay offense with a team best eight goals. With Santana moving back into her natural position in the midfield, the Bluejays have also looked to the likes of freshmen Hailey Rothwell and Lilli Bedell for offensive firepower of late.

Defensively junior Keelan Terrell has delivered a standout season in net. She has seven shutouts, 58 saves and a 0.84 GAA.

Scoring Has Been At a Premium in 2021

In 17 matches during the 2021 season, the Bluejays have either shutout an opponent or been shutout 14 times. Setting aside the one match that ended in a 0-0 draw (vs. South Dakota on September 2nd), 12 of the remaining 16 matches have resulted in a shutout of one form or another.
