Women’s Soccer: Titans Knock Off Presidents in PAC Semis, Advance to Championship | Titantown Sports

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The top-seeded Westminster women’s soccer team shut out No. 4 seed Washington & Jefferson, 4-0, at home on Tuesday night in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament Semifinals.

In a scoreless with 19 seconds left in the first half, junior Julia Redilla (Cranberry Township, PA / Seneca Valley) capitalized from an opportunity to take a free kick from the top left of the Presidents’ box, notching the first goal past the outstretched arms of Washington & Jefferson’s goalie. This goal marked Redilla’s team-high sixth game-winner of the season. The Titans held a 1-0 lead at intermission.

Westminster (16-1-1) quickly built onto its lead when first-year Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) found classmate Natalie Vilchek (West Newton, PA / Yough) right outside the Presidents’ box and blasted a goal between two defenders to make it 2-0. In the 53rd minute, the first-year connection resumed when Lydia Ohm (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) found Horvath on a deep pass to right field, and then Horvath executed a cross-ball to Allie Augustine (Cortland, OH / Lakeview) to register a goal to the upper right-hand side of the net. Less than three minutes later, the Titans found themselves with another scoring opportunity as Augustine set up Vilchek for her second goal of the contest off a touch pass six yards above the box to make the score 4-0. Vilchek tallied her first career multi-goal game.

Titan senior goalkeeper Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) recorded a save and earned the win in 82 shutout-minutes.

Westminster outshot Washington & Jefferson (24-7) and bested them in shots-on-goal (14-1). The Presidents dropped to 10-8-2 overall.

The Titans will host the winner of No. 2 seed Grove City versus No. 3 seed Chatham on Saturday, November 6 with the PAC Title on the line.
